BECOME A MENTEE

The Importance of Being a Mentee in the Strong Survivors Mentorship Program

You don't have to carry the weight alone. Step into your safe space.

For far too long, minority women and young girls have been expected to stay strong in silence, navigating heavy stress, life transitions, and systemic barriers completely on their own.

At Strong Survivors Women & Youth Empowerment (SSWYE), we believe you deserve more than just survival—you deserve a sanctuary. Becoming a mentee means choosing to invest in yourself, surround yourself with a powerful sisterhood, and step boldly into your inherent leadership potential.

What You Gain as an SSWYE Mentee

👩‍❤️‍👩 A Dedicated, Supportive Mentor

You will be carefully paired with a trusted, professional woman from the community who is committed to your success. She isn't there to judge you or lecture you; she is there to listen, encourage you, and stand by your side as you navigate your goals.

📈 Tools to Live "Above the Line"

Through our signature workshops, you will learn how to master emotional agency, self-advocacy, and personal accountability. We teach you the exact mindset shifts needed to transform personal hardships into unshakeable power.

🛡️ A Culturally Safe Sisterhood

You will join a vibrant, judgment-free community of peers who share your lived experiences. Whether through our virtual gatherings or local Arizona meetups, you will find a deep sense of safety, validation, and belonging.

Is This Program Right for Me?

Our mentorship initiative is specifically designed for minority women and youth who are:

Navigating major life transitions, educational hurdles, or career choices.

Experiencing high stress, anxiety, or the pressure of having to always "appear strong."

Ready to break generational cycles, set big personal goals, and take ownership of their future.

Looking for a safe, culturally specific community where they are truly seen, heard, and valued.

Ready to Begin Your Journey?

Taking the first step requires courage, but you don't have to walk it alone. We accept applications for our mentorship cohorts throughout the year.

Representation Matters for Minority Women & Youth

For minority women and youth, representation is key. Seeing someone who shares your experiences—someone who has navigated similar struggles and succeeded can inspire hope and show you that you, too, can break barriers and achieve greatness. A mentor who understands your cultural and personal background can provide invaluable support and guidance, helping you feel seen, heard, and validated in ways that are deeply important for your growth.

You Matter

Why Being a Mentee Matters

🛑 You Deserve a Break From Being the "Strong One"

Society often demands that minority women and young girls carry the weight of the world without complaining. Becoming a mentee gives you a safe space to take off that mask. It is a judgment-free sanctuary where you don't have to have everything figured out—you just have to show up as your authentic self.

🧭 Gain a Blueprint for Your Goals

You have big dreams, but navigating systemic barriers, school, or career tracks can feel overwhelming when you're doing it alone. Your mentor is someone who has walked the path before you. They are there to share their lived experiences, connect you to resources, and help you build a clear, step-by-step roadmap to your personal and professional goals.

🧠 Master the Power of "Above the Line" Living

When life gets heavy, it is easy to feel trapped by your circumstances. Through our mentorship program, you will learn our signature behavioral framework. We teach you how to reclaim your emotional agency, develop high-level self-advocacy skills, and take unshakeable ownership of your future.

🔗 Find Your True Belonging

Hardships thrive in isolation, but healing happens in community. By joining SSWYE, you aren't just getting a mentor—you are gaining a sisterhood. You will be surrounded by peers and leaders who look like you, understand your unique struggles, and are entirely dedicated to celebrating your victories.

What Does Being a Mentee Involve?

Becoming an SSWYE mentee is an active, empowering journey. This program is not about someone telling you what to do—it is a collaborative partnership designed to help you unlock your own strength.

Here is exactly what being a mentee involves:

What It Involves

🗓️ A Consistent Commitment to Yourself

Real growth takes time and consistency. As a mentee, you commit to actively participating in your mentorship cycle. This typically involves 2 to 4 hours per month, which includes:

Regular check-ins with your matched mentor (via phone, video chat, or meeting for coffee).

Attending our scheduled community workshops or virtual support circles.

📓 Learning and Applying the Framework

You will work alongside your mentor to learn our signature Living Above the Line, EMPOWER HER, and HOPES for Healing curriculum. You will use our specialized growth workbooks to practice shifting away from feeling stuck by your circumstances and moving toward high-level emotional agency, self-advocacy, and personal ownership.

🗣️ Open and Honest Communication

Your mentor is a safe, confidential sounding board. Being a mentee involves a willingness to be open about your challenges, your anxieties, and your goals. You don’t have to hide your struggles here; sharing your honest experiences is exactly how we work together to turn survival into power.

🎯 Setting and Pursuing Personal Goals

Whether your goals are academic, professional, or purely personal wellness and mental health boundaries, you will take the lead in defining them. Your mentor's job is to help you break those goals down into achievable steps and keep you accountable as you pursue them.

💫 Step into Your Power

Remember, you are the driver of this journey—your mentor is simply your co-pilot, holding the map and cheering you on. All you need to bring to the table is a willingness to show up for yourself.
